Albany FilmFest Presents: Low-budget Special FX for your low-budget film
Need some special effect hacks for your no-cost film? Waylon Bacon (director of outrageous, morbid short films like the award-winning Help Wanted and Poster Boy, and storyboard artist for horror films like 2011’s Excision) brings his love of monsters, special effects, and low budget filmmaking to lead this one-of-a-kind workshop in how to make cheap special effects for your low-budget film.
Learn everything from how to create masks using duct tape and bed foam to hands-on work with basic drawing skills you can use to storyboard your scenes effectively and save time on set! Class will include videos clips from Poster Boy, My Worst Nightmare, and Help Wanted, and exclusive footage from his new short, The Ride. All ages welcome. (Parental supervision please! May be too strong for younger children.)
