We can't wait for Albany FilmFest 2018 to arrive in March, so we're starting early by revisiting the "great variety,"* "good vibes,"* and "wonderful, community building feel"* of Albany FilmFest with 2017's winners and audience favorites.

The Loneliness of the Short Distance Runner • Holly Jacobson • Youth 6-12 (7:35) A young girl dreams of competing in the Olympics and a local fun run offers her an opportunity to prove herself. UNITED KINGDOM WINNER Best Youth 6-12 AFF 2017

Raised by Krump • Maceo Frost • Documentary (21:15) A rare and beautiful inside look at the Compton/South Center, Los Angeles-born dance movement called Krumping. The film focuses on how Krumping, the dance version of slam poetry, has helped the people of these neighborhoods deal with emotional issues in a context where showing emotion is considered a sign of weakness.
