Join us for free popcorn and "a rom-com of the heart and the brain" (Peter Howell, Toronto Star). Written by and based on the cross-cultural romance of Pakistani-born comedian Kumail Nanjiani and his wife, Emily Gardner, this is a film you will want to see again.

When Emily contracts a mysterious illness, Kumail finds himself forced to face her feisty parents, his family's expectations, and his true feelings. Michael Phillips writes in the Chicago Tribune), "It's a romantic comedy with surprising depth of feeling, glancing on all sorts of things: race, religion, tolerance, understanding, [and] the competitive peculiarity of stand-up comedy."

Directed by Michael Showalter and starring Kumail Nanjiani, Zoe Kaza, Holly Hunter, and Ray Romano. (2 hours, rated R for language)

Co-presentation of Albany FilmFest, Albany Library, and Friends of the Albany Library, and Albany Parks and Recreation. This film is rated PG-13.
